Design Your Soap Box
Drop your logo on a real photo of our custom printed soap boxes, move it and size it, and send it. A designer sets it up to your bar size and sends a free proof.

Your logo sits on a real photo of our packaging. A designer redraws it to scale on your box and sends a free proof before anything is printed.
Why print your own soap boxes
A plain bar sells on smell and touch. A printed box sells it from across a market table. Your name, your scent names and your ingredients all sit on the card, so the bar needs no separate wrapper, sticker and tag.
Each box is made to the bar. Tell us the length, width and height in mm and the inside comes out about 2 mm bigger each way. That matters for a cold process loaf cut into bevelled bars, where every batch lands a few millimetres different.
Which box style fits your bar?
Most makers begin with a tuck end box because it is quick to fill at the bench. A lid-style top suits gift bars. Pillow and hexagon shapes are for something a little different. You can compare all the soap box styles before you choose.
| Style | How it closes | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Tuck end | Flap tucks into the end | Everyday bars, fast packing |
| Lid style | Top lifts off the base | Gift bars, wedding favours |
| Square with label | Round label seals the front | Small guest bars, markets |
| Window box | Clear film patch in the front | Bars with a swirl or a colour worth seeing |
How do you size a box for your bar?
Get the size right once and every reorder is easy.
- Measure the bar after it has cured and shrunk, not straight from the loaf cutter.
- Note length, width and height in mm at the widest points.
- Weigh a few bars. A 100 g bar is often close to 90 x 60 x 25 mm.
- Send the sizes with your order and we add about 2 mm each way for the fit.
- Approve the free design proof before anything is printed.
If you are unsure, the guide to soap box sizes by bar weight lists common UK bars, from a 50 g guest bar to a 150 g slab.
What can you print on the card?
Your artwork goes on white card or kraft card. Pick what suits the look of your range.
- Full colour print for photos, gradients and detailed illustration.
- One or two ink colours for a simple, clean shelf look.
- A white ink panel on kraft, so a logo stands out on brown card.
- Print inside a lid, for a message or scent note the customer finds on opening.
- Finishes on the quote: matt, gloss, soft-touch, foil, spot varnish and embossing.
Can a printed box take a bar that is still curing?
Let bars cure first. Card can mark if a bar is still sweating, and fragrance oils can bleed into it. Keep fresh bars on a rack until they are dry to the touch, then box them.
Melt and pour bars are usually ready sooner, but humid days can still leave them tacky. For more on this, read window patches and moisture.
Full colour or one ink colour?
Full colour is the choice when your scents each have their own picture or shade. It lets a lavender bar look different from a citrus bar at a glance.
One or two ink colours work well when the soap itself is the star. Pair a single ink with kraft and the box looks hand finished. Many makers print one base design and change only a scent name between boxes.
Windows and inserts
A clear film window patch, cut in any shape, lets customers see the swirl or the ash on a cold process top. The film keeps fingers off the bar, which helps on a busy stall.
A card insert holds a small bar or a trio of minis in place, so nothing slides about in the post. Our page on soap boxes with inserts shows how they fit.
How do printed boxes cope with the post?
Boxes travel better when they are packed with little air around them. Stack them flat in a mailer, or wrap a few together so corners do not rub.
A snug box that is sized to the bar will not rattle, which means fewer scuffed edges when a parcel is dropped on a doorstep. For packing ideas, see packing soap for posting.
What goes on the box besides your logo?
Soap sold in the UK usually carries the product name, weight, ingredients and the maker's details. Cosmetic rules apply, so check the current UK cosmetics rules before you finalise your artwork.
Leave a clear space on the back for the ingredient list and a batch note. A small blank panel can also take a stamped date if you make short runs.
How many boxes does one batch need?
Work backwards from the mould. A loaf mould that cuts into 10 bars needs 10 boxes, and a second batch in another scent doubles that. Many makers order for two or three batches at a time, so the bars never wait on the card and the card never waits on the bars.
Think about the gaps too. Shampoo bars and bath bombs sold beside your soap need their own boxes, and a market stall usually wants a few spares for tester bars that get handled all day. A hotel or B&B ordering guest soaps tends to buy in one go, because the same 75 x 50 x 25 mm bar goes into every room.
Cutting is where a batch drifts. A wire cutter leaves a slightly different thickness on each slice, and a bar that shrinks as it cures can lose a millimetre or two. Measure a handful from the middle of the loaf and send the largest numbers, so the thickest bar still slides in without catching the flap.
Write the size beside each scent name on your bench sheet. When you reorder, quote the same millimetres and the new boxes will sit level with the old ones on the shelf.
Wedding and event favour makers work the other way round. They count guests first, add a few spare, and choose a small bar, often about 60 g, so the box stays light in a gift bag.
How does ordering work?
Prices start from £0.25 a box, and every order is quoted by email within one working day. Send your bar size, the style you like and a rough idea of quantity. Low minimums are quoted per job.
You can ask for a quote now, or use Design Your Soap Box to set your artwork out first. If a misprint or damage is reported within 10 days, we reprint or refund.

What bar sizes can you make boxes for?
Any size. Common UK bars include 90 x 60 x 25 mm, 75 x 50 x 25 mm and 100 x 65 x 30 mm. Send your own measurements in mm and the box is made to them.
How much bigger is the inside than my bar?
About 2 mm each way, which is roughly 1 mm a side. That gives a snug fit that still slides in easily at the bench.
Do I get to see the design before printing?
Yes. A free design proof comes first, and nothing is printed until you approve it.
Can I have the boxes printed while my batch is still curing?
Yes, and it is a handy way to use the wait. Printing takes 4 to 6 working days after you approve the proof, so you can pour and cut a batch meanwhile, then box the bars once they have cured.
Will printed boxes reach me with sharp corners?
Delivery is free, tracked and takes 2 to 3 working days across the UK mainland, so you can follow the parcel and check the corners the moment it lands.
Can I print on kraft card instead of white?
Yes. Kraft card is available, and a white ink panel helps a logo stand out on the brown surface.
Can I add a window to a printed box?
Yes. A clear film window patch can be cut in any shape. The film keeps fingers off the bar.
Can I order a small run for one new scent?
Yes. Minimums are low and set per job, so a test run for a single scent is fine. Tell us the bar size and rough quantity and we answer by email within one working day.
Can I use a different scent name on each box?
Yes. Many makers keep one design and change the scent name or colour for each variety. Mention it when you ask for your quote.
Will fragrance oils mark the card?
They can, particularly if a bar is still sweating. Let bars cure fully before boxing them, and ask us if your scent is strong.
What if my boxes arrive misprinted or damaged?
Photos of a misprinted or dented box, sent within 10 days, get the run reprinted or refunded.
Can I get a bath bomb or shampoo bar box in the same style?
Yes. Round items like 65 mm bath bombs and shampoo bars can have a matching box. Send the diameter and height and we size it to fit.
