Design Your Soap Box
Drop your logo on a real photo of our pillow soap boxes, move it and size it, and send it. A designer sets it up to your bar size and sends a free proof.

Your logo sits on a real photo of our packaging. A designer redraws it to scale on your box and sends a free proof before anything is printed.
What is a pillow soap box?
A pillow box is a single folded sheet of card that closes into a gently curved case, rounded at both ends like a small cushion. There is no separate lid and no tray. The back seam is glued flat, and the curved ends tuck together when you close it.
For a soap maker, that shape does two jobs. It looks softer on a shelf than a square carton, and it wraps a small bar neatly for a gift. Ours are cut to the bar, so the inside follows your size rather than a catalogue size.
Which bars suit a pillow box?
Pillow boxes work best on compact, fairly flat bars. The guest bar, about 75 x 50 x 25 mm and around 60 g, is the classic fit. Chunky, tall bars put the curved ends under strain, so a straight-sided style may serve them better.
- Guest bars cut from a loaf, with square or bevelled edges
- Small hand-milled or melt and pour bars for gift sets
- Wedding and event favours in one fixed size
- Trial bars you hand out at a market stall
- Sample slices from a larger bar
If your bar is tall or heavy, look at tuck end soap boxes instead.
What size should the box be?
Tell us the bar in millimetres, length by width by height. The inside of the box is the bar plus about 2 mm each way, which is 1 mm a side. Measure after your bars have shrunk during curing, not when they leave the mould.
| Bar size (mm) | Typical weight | Box inside (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| 75 x 50 x 25 | about 60 g | 77 x 52 x 27 |
| 70 x 50 x 20 | about 50 g | 72 x 52 x 22 |
| 90 x 60 x 25 | about 100 g | 92 x 62 x 27 |
| 85 x 60 x 30 | about 110 g | 87 x 62 x 32 |
| 100 x 65 x 30 | about 150 g | 102 x 67 x 32 |
Hand-cut bars vary by a millimetre or two along a loaf. Measure a few and size to the largest. Our guide to soap box sizes by bar weight covers cutters and loaf yields.
Kraft or white card, and how does print look?
Kraft card gives a warm, natural brown that suits cold process soap and a handmade stall. White card gives a clean base for full colour, like the coral boxes in our samples. On kraft, a white ink panel keeps a pale logo bright, because ink straight onto brown tends to sit darker.
You can print full colour, one or two ink colours, or inside the box. A single black band across plain kraft is a quiet look that costs little effort to reorder. Matt, gloss, soft-touch, foil, spot varnish and embossing are added on the quote. Logo tips are in printing your logo on kraft.
Will a curing bar sweat inside the box?
Possibly, if it is still young. A bar that sweats or leaks fragrance oil can mark kraft or white card, and oils can bleed into the board. Let bars finish curing and feel dry before they go in.
Pillow boxes close at the ends but are not sealed, so a little air moves through the folds. Strong scents can still drift, which many makers like at a market because customers smell the box before they buy. If a bar needs to breathe a while longer, leave it out on the rack. For boxes with a clear patch, read window patches and moisture.
How do you fill and close one?
Filling takes a few seconds once you find the rhythm. Do one trial box with a single bar before you pack the whole batch.
- Check the bar is fully cured, dry to the touch and not oily.
- Brush off any ash or loose crumbs from the top of a cold process bar.
- Open the curved ends and slide the bar in, best face up.
- Press the ends together until they interlock and the curve springs shut.
- Add ribbon, twine or a tag if you like, then lay the boxes flat side down.
Are pillow boxes right for hotel guest soaps?
Yes, and the size is the reason. A 75 x 50 x 25 mm guest bar in a curved kraft box looks considered on a bathroom shelf or a welcome tray. Housekeeping can restock quickly, and the box keeps the bar clean until the guest opens it.
You can print the property name, a short line about the scent or a plain band. Small hotels and bed and breakfasts often order one design in a single run, then reorder when the pile runs low. For welcome hampers, see soap gift boxes for sets.
Can you use them for weddings and thank-you gifts?
Easily. The curved shape takes ribbon, lace or a paper tag well, as in the sample with lace. Favour makers often keep the box plain kraft and print a name and date on a separate band, which keeps colour consistent across the whole order.
Order a few spare boxes in the same run. Someone always drops a favour, and matching boxes ordered later can differ slightly in shade. Bands are covered under soap wrap bands.
How do you post pillow boxes without crushed ends?
The curved ends are the weak point. Pack the boxes flat in a rigid outer carton, keep the ends away from the walls and fill gaps with paper. Do not stack them many layers high, because pressure goes straight through to the curve.
A loose bar rattles and scuffs its own corners, so ask us to trim the inside closer if your bars are slightly smaller. Full advice is in packing soap for posting.
How does ordering work?
Send your bar size and the look you want. Your pillow box quote arrives by email inside one working day. We then send a free design proof, and nothing is printed until you approve it.
Production takes 4 to 6 working days after proof approval. Delivery is free, tracked and covers UK mainland, usually in 2 to 3 working days. Misprints or damage reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded.
Minimums are low and quoted per job. When you are ready, request a quote for your boxes, or call +44 7578 382054 or use WhatsApp.

What bar size fits a pillow box best?
A guest bar around 75 x 50 x 25 mm, about 60 g, is the usual fit. Smaller, flatter bars also sit well, while tall bars strain the curved ends.
Do you make pillow boxes to my exact bar size?
Yes. Give us length, width and height in millimetres and we size the inside to the bar plus about 2 mm each way.
Can I print inside the box?
Yes. Print inside is available, which suits a scent note or a short message that shows when the ends open.
Can I have a white logo on kraft?
Yes. A white ink panel on kraft keeps pale artwork clear instead of letting it sink into the brown.
Is there a window option?
Window patches in clear film can be added in any shape, and we check the placement on the proof because of the curve. The film keeps fingers off the bar.
Will fragrance oil mark the card?
It can, especially if a bar is freshly cut or still sweating. Let bars cure and dry fully before boxing them.
Do I get to see a design before printing?
Yes. A free design proof comes first, and nothing goes to print until you approve it.
How long does an order take?
Production is 4 to 6 working days after proof approval. Free tracked UK mainland delivery then takes 2 to 3 working days.
What if boxes arrive misprinted or damaged?
Spot a misprint or a crushed pillow box? Let us know inside 10 days for a reprint or a refund.
Can I order a small run of pillow boxes to test one bar size?
Yes. Small runs are normal for makers trying a new guest bar, and the quantity is set per job when we quote. Tell us the bar size and how many you plan to pack, and we confirm the details by email.
What should my soap label say?
Most soap on sale in the UK shows the product name, its weight, the ingredients and who made it, under cosmetic rules. A pillow box has limited flat space, so check the current UK cosmetics rules before you print and plan where that text will sit.
Should I use a sleeve instead of a box?
A pillow box covers the whole bar. If you want the soap visible along its sides and a lighter wrap, try a printed soap sleeve instead.
