Measure before you order
Note the diameter of your bar and its height in mm, plus its weight in grams. Measure once the bar has finished curing, because it shrinks slightly along the way.

Design Your Soap Box
Drop your logo on a real photo of our hexagon soap boxes, move it and size it, and send it. A designer sets it up to your bar size and sends a free proof.

Your logo sits on a real photo of our packaging. A designer redraws it to scale on your box and sends a free proof before anything is printed.
Why choose a hexagon over a square box?
A round bar in a rectangular carton leaves four empty corners and a bar that rolls about. A hexagon box wraps closer to the curve. The bar sits in the middle with a little air around it, and the lid closes over it cleanly.
Most makers reach for this style when the soap itself has a shape worth showing: a puck from a round silicone mould, a stamped disc, a wide shampoo bar. Six faces also give you more to print than a tube, and a hexagon stands out on a shelf crowded with oblong boxes.
Our hexagon soap boxes are printed to order in kraft card or white card, with a lid and a base, and made to the size of your bar.
Which round bars fit a hexagon box?
The typical bar here is 70 x 70 x 30 mm, which means a round bar 70 mm across and 30 mm tall. Inside the box we allow about 2 mm each way, so about 1 mm a side. That is enough for the bar to slide in without a fight and not enough for it to slide about. A bar that shrinks as it cures should be measured after it has finished shrinking.
Hexagons are sized across the flats, the distance between two opposite sides. Send us the diameter of your bar and we work the rest out. The corners are left-over room, and some makers drop a folded sheet of tissue in there. Oblong bars are a poor match for this shape, and our guide to soap box sizes by bar weight covers those.
Where do these boxes work best?
Hexagon boxes suit a handful of jobs very well.
- A round bar from a puck mould, boxed so it sits square to the lid.
- Guest soaps for a hotel or bed and breakfast, where every room gets the same neat, shapely box.
- Wedding favours that look finished on a table without any extra wrapping.
- Shampoo bars with a rounded profile, which often run about 65 mm across.
- Bath bombs about 65 mm round, when you want something other than a plain carton.
- A gift shop shelf, where six sides catch the eye among rows of rectangles.
Kraft card or white card?
Kraft card has a natural brown face and suits a handmade, workshop look. Add a white ink panel and a logo or scent name stands out cleanly without covering the whole box. White card takes full colour at its brightest, so a gradient, a botanical drawing or a flat block of colour comes up as you drew it.
Either board can be printed in full colour, or in one or two ink colours when you want a restrained look. You can also print inside the lid, a good spot for a short note or a pattern that only shows once the box is open. Finishes we can add to the quote include matt, gloss, soft-touch, foil, spot varnish and embossing. If kraft is tempting, read about printing your logo on kraft before you decide.
Windows, lids and compartments
The first photo shows a white hexagon box with a die cut window in a botanical shape. Window patches use clear film and can be cut to any shape, so a leaf, a circle or a plain hexagon all work. The film keeps fingers off the bar at a market stall while still showing the colour and swirl underneath.
The second photo shows a two-colour box with its lid lifted off, and the fourth shows a tray with compartments under a white lid. Card inserts can hold a bar, a small sample or a bath bomb in its own space so nothing knocks together. Film is not a seal, so read window patches and moisture if your soaps are still damp.
How does ordering work?
It takes six steps from bar to finished box.
- Measure the bar across its widest point, note its height in mm and its weight in grams.
- Choose kraft card or white card, and say whether you want a window patch or an insert.
- Email or message us your sizes and quantity, and we quote by email within one working day.
- Approve the free design proof, or ask for changes until it looks right.
- We print in 4 to 6 working days after you approve the proof.
- Once printed, the hexagon boxes travel to you tracked and free across the UK mainland, reaching you in 2 to 3 working days.

Does a cured bar need to breathe?
Cold process bars lose water and shrink slightly as they cure, so wait until yours is properly hard before it goes in a box. Brush off any soda ash from the top first, because ash looks worse pressed against a lid. Hot process and melt and pour bars behave differently, but the rule holds: a dry bar in a dry box.
Card can mark if a bar is still sweating, and strong fragrance oils can bleed into the board over time. A snug lid keeps more scent in than an open tray, though no box makes a bar scent-proof. If you are unsure, box one bar, leave it for a fortnight and then look at the card.
Sets, samples and gift boxes
A tray with compartments turns single bars into a set. Think one full puck and two small ones, or a bar beside a bath bomb of about the same width. Because the lid stays a hexagon, the set still reads as one neat object on the shelf.
For a shop display or a hotel welcome basket, a set like this saves guests from handling loose soap. Tell us what goes in and we plan the spaces. More on that in our range of soap boxes with inserts.
Hexagon sizes at a glance
This is a rough guide only. We size every box to the measurements you send.
| Round item | Typical size | Fit notes |
|---|---|---|
| Soap puck | 70 x 70 x 30 mm | The example size here, with about 2 mm added each way |
| Shampoo bar | About 65 mm across | Same box shape, smaller across the flats |
| Bath bomb | About 65 mm round | Snug fit, and a window shows the colour |
| Favour bar | Your mould size | Sized to the measurements you send |
Posting hexagon boxes without scuffed corners
Six sides mean six edges to catch. Pack each boxed bar snugly in an outer carton so nothing slides, and fill any gap with paper rather than leaving room to rattle. Our notes on packing soap for posting go through it step by step.
If a box of ours arrives damaged or misprinted, tell us within 10 days and we reprint or refund. Check the proof closely before approving it, because that is the cheapest moment to spot a colour or spelling slip.

What size is a typical hexagon soap box?
Our usual example is a round bar of 70 x 70 x 30 mm. The inside of the box is the bar plus about 2 mm each way. Send your own measurements and we size to them.
Do hexagon boxes only fit round bars?
They suit round and near-round items best, such as pucks, shampoo bars and bath bombs. Oblong bars waste space in the corners, so a rectangular box usually looks tidier for them.
Do I measure across the flats or the corners?
Just measure the diameter of your bar and its height in mm. We work out the flats and corners from that, so you can skip the geometry.
Can I have a window in a hexagon box?
Yes. A clear film patch can be cut to any shape, from a leaf to a circle. We confirm the shape and position on the free design proof.
Is kraft or white card better for a cold process bar?
Neither is better. Kraft gives a natural look, especially with a white ink panel, and white card gives the brightest colour. How well cured the bar is matters more than the board.
Can I print inside the lid?
Yes. Printing inside a lid is available on both boards, and it works well for a short thank-you note or a pattern.
Can one hexagon box hold more than one bar?
A tray with compartments and card inserts can hold several items. Tell us what goes in and we plan the spaces.
Do you make hexagon boxes for shampoo bars and bath bombs?
Yes. Shampoo bars are often about 65 mm across and bath bombs about 65 mm round, and both sit well in this shape. For bombs alone, see our bath bomb boxes.
How much do hexagon boxes cost?
Pricing starts from £0.25 a box. The final figure depends on size, board, print and finishes, so we send each quote by email within one working day.
How long do production and delivery take?
Production takes 4 to 6 working days after you approve the free design proof. Delivery is free, tracked and covers the UK mainland in 2 to 3 working days.
What happens if the print comes out wrong?
Report misprints or damage within 10 days of delivery and we reprint or refund. Go through the proof carefully first, since that is the stage to catch slips.
What must I put on the box for labelling?
Soap sold in the UK usually carries the product name, weight, ingredients and the maker's details, and cosmetic rules apply. Check the current UK cosmetics rules and print the details on the box or a label.
