Which soap box style suits your bar?

Start with the bar, not the box. Is yours a cold process loaf cut square, a melt and pour block with a clear swirl, or a round shampoo bar? The answer, plus how you sell it, narrows the choice quickly.

Seven styles sit in this range. Each solves a different problem, such as a rainy market table, a gift shop shelf or a parcel heading to a customer in Leeds. If you want total freedom over artwork, begin with full colour custom printed boxes and work outwards from there.

Soap box styles compared

Here is the whole range side by side. Every style is made to the bar, so the inside is your bar plus about 2 mm each way.

Do kraft and window boxes suit fresh bars?

Kraft is brown card with a natural, hand-poured look, and it takes one or two ink colours well. A white ink panel gives your logo a clean spot on the brown. Fragrance oils can bleed into card, and a bar that is still sweating can mark it, so let bars cure fully before they go in.

Window boxes add a clear film patch in any shape, so buyers can see the swirl or the embedded petals. The film keeps fingers off the bar. It does not replace curing, which is why it helps to read up on window patches and moisture before you choose.

Tuck end, bar and pillow boxes for shelves

The lid on tuck end boxes for everyday bars folds in at one end. Shoppers know the shape, and the wide front face carries your name and scent. Soap bar boxes are the snug option for a single bar of one set size, cut close so the bar does not slide about on its way to a customer.

Pillow boxes curve at the sides and close at the ends. That suits a 60 g guest bar for a hotel room or a favour at a wedding. They feel more like a small present, so pick one when the bar itself is the gift.

When does a hexagon box make sense?

Round bars are awkward in a square box. A shampoo bar about 65 mm across leaves dead corners, and the bar can shift around inside. A hexagon follows the round shape more closely, so the bar sits neatly and the box looks chosen rather than compromised.

Six faces also give you six places for a name, a scent note or a batch date. Have a look at six-sided boxes for round bars if your moulds are circular.

How to choose a style in five steps

Work through this at the bench with one finished bar in your hand.

  1. Measure the bar in mm, length x width x height, after it has shrunk slightly in curing.
  2. Weigh it in grams so you can compare it with common bars such as 100 g or 60 g.
  3. Decide how it is sold: market table, shop shelf, hotel room or posted order.
  4. Choose whether buyers should see the bar. If yes, look at a window. If not, a closed box does the job.
  5. Ask for a quote by email and approve the free design proof before anything is printed.

What to check before you order

Common UK bars run 90 x 60 x 25 mm at about 100 g, or 75 x 50 x 25 mm at about 60 g for guests. If yours sits between them, the guide to sizes by bar weight helps.

  • Your bar size in mm, so the inside is the bar plus about 2 mm each way.
  • Cure time, so no bar goes in while it is still sweating.
  • Scent strength, since fragrance oils can bleed into card.
  • Posting: corners that arrive unscuffed matter to anyone sending parcels.
  • Labelling: soap sold in the UK usually carries the product name, weight, ingredients and the maker's details, so leave room and check the current UK cosmetics rules.

Print, proof and delivery

Pricing is from £0.25 a box, and every order is quoted by email within one working day. Before a single box is printed, you check a free proof of your artwork on the style you chose. Production takes 4 to 6 working days after proof approval, then free tracked UK mainland delivery arrives in 2 to 3 working days. Misprints or damage reported within 10 days are reprinted or refunded.

Print options include full colour, one or two ink colours, a white ink panel on kraft and print inside a lid. Finishes on the quote are matt, gloss, soft-touch, foil, spot varnish and embossing. To get going, ask for a quote with your bar size.

Soap Box Styles questions

More answers in Help, or call +44 7578 382054 or message us on WhatsApp.

Which style is best for cold process bars?

Kraft and tuck end boxes are common picks, because the brown card suits a handmade look and the tuck-in lid is simple to fill. Choose a window if the swirl is your selling point.

Can I mix styles in one product line?

Yes. Many makers use a closed box for the main range and a pillow box for guest bars. Each job is quoted individually, so mixed orders are fine.

Can I put a bar in a window box while it is still curing?

Wait until it has cured. Card can mark if a bar is still sweating, and the film only keeps fingers off the bar. It does not change how the soap behaves.

Will a round shampoo bar fit a standard box?

It can, but the corners go to waste. A hexagon follows the round shape better, and all our boxes are made to the size of your bar.

How do I work out the box size?

Take the length, width and height of your cured bar in mm, then add about 2 mm to each. That leaves 1 mm of room on every side inside the box.

Which style suits a 60 g guest bar for a hotel?

A pillow box is a good fit for a 75 x 50 x 25 mm guest bar, since the curved sides make it feel like a small present. A tuck end box works too if you want a flatter, tidier look on the housekeeping trolley.

What does the free design proof show?

It shows your artwork laid out on the box you chose, so you can check names, spelling and colours. Nothing is printed until you approve it.

How long do boxes take to arrive?

Once you approve the proof, expect 4 to 6 working days of production, followed by free tracked UK mainland delivery in 2 to 3 working days.

What happens if my boxes arrive misprinted or damaged?

Message us within 10 days of delivery, and a misprinted or damaged box gets reprinted or refunded.

Should I pick a box, a sleeve or a wrap?

It depends on how much protection and shelf presence you need. The box, sleeve or wrap comparison sets out the differences.
